Cardboard to Wood

I finally found some holders of stuff. The supplier was Space Oddity, a vintage furniture store in Ballard with (gasp) reasonable prices. The stock turns over quick, as I missed the couch I wanted by minutes. But I did manage to get this snazzy dresser and split drafting table.

I also finally took my empty boxes to the alley. For the last few months, I had been keeping the flattened boxes just in case. Stuffed in my bedroom closet, they took up 2/3 of my limited storage space. I didn't actually know where I might go, or why I might actually have a spore of interest in packing and moving (again). Free boxes in Capitol Hill!

This past week I've felt like both a leashed city dog that's lived for years in a studio apartment and the uptight owner that wants both a well behaved dog and a fun, laughter creating pet, but feels obliged to discipline first, play second.

I spastically run forward without focus, maybe a tree, or a fire hydrant and a yank myself back with a stern 'heel'. I'm so excited for my freedom I don't plan, I waste time sniffing lame areas of concrete and miss massive green hills and stray tennis balls. On the flip side, I've spent so little time with my dog over the last few years, that I try to control rather then enjoy the inquisitive innocence.

Hmm, this my second struggle with time dog analogy.

  • Hi. I know this is real late next to the date posted, but I have been looking and looking for such a table for my watercolor work I do. Its perfect!!! I know you got it at a vintage shop, but is there any identifying info on it that can tell what brand it is so I might try and track one down? I have looked and looked and believe it or not, I have yet to find one this perfect. Hope to hear from you!

  • Hi Traci,

    Thanks!

I can't respond directly to you - so hopefully you will get this.

It's from a school - no real marks other then that. You might have luck at Re-Store or Second-Use building supplies (assuming you live in Seattle)

    I do like it-quite awesome
