Not Swim City
My friend and I went swimming in Seattle this summer. We had a dozen indoor pools to chose from, all with assorted lap swimming times scattered throughout the day. The building was perched on the edge of Green Lake. The lap lanes were organized by speed, the locker room clean, and the people pleasant.
The DC outdoor pools all close this week or next, despite the fact that you could swim through end of September at least. There is only one indoor pool near me and the lap swim hours are from 5:30-8pm. The pool doesn't even open until 3pm.
DC residents pay a lot in taxes. And maybe pools are not high on the list of city needs (umm stadium?), but if you can't afford the $70 a month at the YMCA, no swim for you.
Ok, so I am in a mood. A bit mad at the city. I will save my library rant for another day.
Postscript: I could be displacing a little frustration. Maybe the isolation from not working, being light on the funds, and the soupy DC weather - plus the overwhelming volume of information about photography, blogging and all other important stuff one must know, is effecting me. Just a tad.
I just walked through the mist machine at the zoo. Mist clears all confusion and leaves droplets that make your head glow. I like glowing heads.

Have you tried the indoor pools in Arlington, VA? All three high schools have pools open year round.

No I haven't - I always assumed you needed to be a resident.
I will look into that - thanks
